Public amenities like those worthy of such a prime piece of real estate, require money. Alot of Money. So spare me the band-aid solutions like a nice concession stand to sell hotdogs, some flowers to landscape it and a pathway created by "donated bricks". If you want it to look like shit, invest little and go that route. The staus quo isn't doing enough so "Go big or go home". If it is such a jewel, than let the amount invested reflect the value of the property. And to do that, the money aint coming from Town Hall cause they aint got it. Hence the idea of a Private/public partnership. Let someone else pay for everything that property needs and deserves, and we the citizens can enjoy.
I'm tired of hearing cut this, cut that, but when it comes to the Beach, pour more money and keep on pouring.
Unablogger says "Council won't listen to our voices" Whose voice are you talking about? You mean the voice that goes to council with ideas of selling bricks. You mean the voices that gatherd 1000's of signatures by deceiving beachgoers to sign a petition because the "Town wants to sell the Beach". You mean the voices that ridicule and disrespect Councillors and then applauds ignorant and embarrassing behaviour by Tommy Lewis. You mean your voice Ms. Bowers who can't argue an issue in a respetful manner and must resort to character assassination of town staff and a duly elected Council. Are these the voices they won't listen to?
Voice of people being ignored? Nobody is going to give the time of day to a squad of nobodies who expend vast amounts of energy to denigrate, insult and spread fiction. The Friends of Crystal Beach, mostly part-time residents, are given credit for speaking up publicly about positive ideas and for the work that they've done, but they are all part of this brainwashing "the voice of the people" are taking part in. The town has never ever said it will sell or consider selling the beach. As the council agreed when they bought the lands that they didn't want, it would use them to recover at least part of the two million dollars they spent to buy it.
We're two and a half million dollars into this beach thing and that doesn't include the loss of tax base and the loss of other opportunities because so much money has been poured into the beach.
There's more people in this town than the ones who hear voices in their head, who have dreams about corruption and read tarot cards. This whole controversy is a sham intended by the Unablogger only to cause distress.
There are some good points being made. I for one am very interested in what Molinaro has come up with.
It probably calls for some mid-to-high density condo on the northeast lot, a build and manage agreement for the concession stand and a build agreement for a pavilion on the footprint of the dance hall -- luckily they didn't pull that out. Washrooms perhaps at the lobster house. Joint build agreements on street work. I don't know for sure but that's about what I would come up with.
For the town's part, it should immediately implement minimum $1 per hour $5 per day street parking in the Bay Beach zone. Each property owner receives one free pass, additional passes must be requested and passes are permanently attached to the car. Traffic is an issue.
Meanwhile, I posted an aerial photo of the area on my website, or should I say faux-website.
Just looking at the picture now, it looks like the property above the berm would support a fairly large building too.

Just a couple weeks ago she defended her "Adventures in Public Pooping" against our gleeful dissection that we can't tell the difference between fact and artistic license.
Oh, that's right, she's a PSYCHIC. She dreamed that the examination of her public writing happened in this blog.

It is very clear Unablogger is off her meds. Her laundry list of an ideal mayoral candidate is a window into her sick conspiracy driven mind. Why can't she be like most conspiracy theorist psychopaths and simple roll around in her own feces instead of depositing it on the friendship trail. She can't even get that right. Maybe the same meds she is off now are the same ones that were controlling her shitting habits. Walkers and hikers who use the friendship trail beware. But what's her BFF Helen's excuse?

I am wondering at what point did some of the citizens in this town become so exclusionary that it could almost be termed racist. I dont think any of us have the right to choose who lives here, how they live here, and in what kind of house they live in.

The only reason the nut job editor doesn't what Bay beach developed is because it would force her welfare addicted ass out of the neighborhood. It seems the Editor is a jack of all trades. She is qualified in Architecture, Neighborhood planning, Engineering, Civil law, just to name a few. Surely she can secure consulting work given her claims of knowing what should or shouldn't, what could or couldn't, what will or won't be developed in Fort Erie. Then again, that could cut into her welfare income.
