Poolitzer Prize winner implodes

It looks as if the UnaBlogger is hanging it up.

http://www.crystalbeachstrand.com/

That troubling piece of news caused me to think about the future of the Strand and frankly, I'm ready to throw the
towel in and walk away from it all. The Thunder Bay/Ridgeway Shores golf club couldn't be saved; the so-called
Rwanda development sits in mute mockery to the people who protested clear-cutting during nesting season; the Bay
Beach Properties will be developed in a so-called "partnership" that the people have had or will have little say in how
it is done; and a marina will cut into a beautiful vista and neighbourhood along the Niagara Parkway and nothing can
be done - or will be done - to stop it.

Meanwhile, the administration of the town of Fort Erie operates on its own closed agenda and nothing or no one is
able to make it accountable. People who know "where the bodies are buried" are afraid to come forward; others
refuse to get involved and others, who go to the authorities or challenge the s
tatus quo get called names; get
stonewalled. Council meetings are a travesty of disrespect for certain councillors and certain presenters; the scripted
responses and votes infuriate and sadden people who care about the future of this town, while the local press is
hampered in what it can report because they have advertisers to please. My premature report of the closing of a
local newspaper is only that: premature. Print media is under threat because it is just too expensive to print and
circulate hard copies of the news - especially a weekly newspaper whose news is somewhat obsolete even before it
hits the street. I looked to the
Huffington Post as my model for what the Strand could be and I succeeded on a much
smaller scale. Recent financial hits have made me very aware of the amount of unpaid time I spend on this newsblog.
I simply can't afford to continue. I have had to return to work; my fixed income is just not enough to make ends meet
even though I live very frugally and have for years.

It may just be a sabbatical, this walking away. Hopefully, others will continue to beat their heads against the brick
wall. Right now, I've got nothing but a big headache..

Let's all bow our heads for a moment ..... then dance a little jig.

It seems to me that her report that Niagara This Week had closed was what broke the camel's back.

From what she wrote, and having experience in getting Sharon to retract and apologize to a statement she made in my paper many years ago, that seems to be the case.

"My premature report of the closing of a local newspaper is only that: premature."

I'm guessing, somebody from Metroland called her up, said it was a damaging statement that interfered with the conduct of its business, threatened to sue, and she decided to hang it up, citing every other reason under the sun and only obliquely referencing the real reason.

Well I have to say that the closing of the Strand is probably a good thing.

I had posted on there trying to persuade the posters and the editor to stop all of the name calling, accusations, and belittlement of posters. But it fell on deaf ears.

Perhaps with that venue gone, the posters that really have something worthwhile to say, and not all the whining childish posters will redirect their comments to the local newspaper where it can be read by all and not a group of supporters of councilmen who have lost their seats.

I suspect that the faux editor will be particularly interested as to what this forum has to say at this time, so I will respond to her comment " Recent financial hits have made me very aware of the amount of unpaid time I spend on this newsblog.
I simply can't afford to continue. I have had to return to work; my fixed income is just not enough to make ends meet
even though I live very frugally and have for years."

It's about time that you started thinking about how you waste your welfare money ..... THAT I PAY FOR !!!!!!

Ahh. She's got nothing more than a big headache. Now she knows how the rest of us feel! She forgot to mention loose bowels as well. Hers's an idea...Take some of MY hard earned tax dollars and invest a portion of your welfare cheque into a box of depends for you and your BFF Helen so you can stop defecating on publicly owned property! Pillar of democracy my ass. More like a leach sucking it's host dry, but it doesn't say thank you, it takes a big shit instead! I suppose that's why she wants Crystal Beach to stay in public hands... so she can bury her droppings in the sand. Now for my jig.

What am I going to do now, now that my morning laugh is gone?... I think we all can agree her exit has nothing to do with the economy or disbelief on how other communities are run.. no.. not at all .. it has to do with being exposed!!!!... right now she is packing, waiting till the end of the month so she can do her midnight run. Leaving behind junk, used depends, and oh yah .. rent owing , bills unpaid etc.. then its off to another sucker of a landlord , another community that she will try to destroy!.. don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!.. bubye!

Well, I have to admit I'm not "up" on this blog/ forums thing, so please excuse me if I am in the wrong.

I was directed to Ms. Bower's website by a colleague of mind as I was of the impression that she ( Olives) thought I might be of some assistance to their concerns. In truth, I was manipulated by her to cause me to visit the site and expose me to the bigotry promoted their.

Certainly I am upset with Olives deception, but it has opened my eyes. Further, she has directed me to this site, and my eyes are widened further ..... deficating on public property .... can you substantiate that accusation.

I realize, having read a few articles on this site, that this site is exclusively for exposing Ms. Bowers shortcomings. I will read in depth all of the posts over the next couple of days to familiarized myself with the concerns, as I like to speak with some kind of knowledge.

Regards,

Dr. M Grady

Can this be substantiated? Probably not because they are the words of Miss Bowers herself. There's a link that goes to the website where she posted a story that describes the escapades in detail that we refer to. She has since removed the post. However, the page has been archived and I could post the text. But I don't think I will.

Miss Bowers has stopped publishing her website and blog, or at least it's not visible to the general public.

No more comments about Miss Bowers will be entertained here. In due time, the past posts will be removed and maybe this blog can take a better, more positive direction.

Dear Canuck,

Please .... don't get your feathers ruffled. I did apoligize in the entry of my post for my wrong doings.

You post, is unfortunately reminisent of the reception that I received at Ms. Bowers forum .... very discouraging.

I can only assume, because you directed that " No more comments about Miss Bowers will be entertained here." , that you are the creator of this site, and once again, I find myself stiffled of my opinion. What's with you Canadians?

What I meant was we're not going to start any more discussion of Miss Bowers because she has ended her offensive activities. This blog was started in response to her defamation against people in Fort Erie. It has stopped, as far as we can tell, so there is no need to continue with that.

If you have something you want to add, please do.

there's still a lot of crap she posted that's available on the net

It seems Madame loose Bowels has come out of retirement. Looking forward to her character assasinations of those on Council in response to her inability to inteligently argue an issue. The collective I.Q. and the credibility of anyone wishing to oppose the sale of any portion of the Beach, just fell into single digits with Sharon Bowers on the case. Do yourselves a favor people...don't let her attach herself to any issue you need support or credibility with. If she does, your cause is doomed to fail. With every sentence she writes, watch Council dig their heels in that much deeper.

She' back ......

SHE'S BACK....!I tried posting but she will not allow me the freedom... so here it goes..

She asks for the truth .. thats all she wants .. well it starts with her.. no more rumors , half truths , imho..., rantings .. admit your wrong Ms.Bowers, admit your mistakes and start off fresh!..
The fact is not everyone thinks the way you do .. there are several hundreds of residents in the Beach that want development.. but she does not want to hear their voices , their concerns ..jj

She must have gotten fired

Or she may have just had an election, a vote of confidance; in her mind only though.
