A Mighty Wind

I am going to laugh SO HARD when the whole story about Wasatch and Canadian Hydro Developers finally sinks in. The stuff they come up to blame on the Town is fucking incredible.

yeah, they were going to put a whole bunch up on Point Abino to take advantage of the dunes, and one on top of the lighthouse and a whole string of them across Abino Bay to Windmill Point and a couple on the beach were part of the Molinaro deal, with some extra slush money being paid to Sharon Bowers to keep it all hush hush, but that got blown out when the deal fell through.

suppose she will blame Whitfield, Lockwood , the EDC and all of Town Hall for the closing of Stewarts... that is what I wrote on her blog ... wondering if she will print it ..

as for blaming Fort Erie for the cancellation of this contract.. she is already blaming the EDC for it .. Someone needs to point out something to her.... she's nuts !.. lol

Who is the EDC? Isn't it the EDTC? With the T standing for Tourism. I believe more should be done to help grow the tourism industry in this town. We have or have had many wonderful events, and places to visit in this town that could use a little help from them, in the way of marketing and promotion, and little comes from them, except a listing on their event calendar on their website. The Racetrack and Holiday inn however have some kind of stay and play program that are promoted on the Fort Erie Excites website, but, that should be extended to the different events, such as the Friendship Festival, or say, the Doll House, or Safari Niagara, etc., to partner on. Perhaps a staff person should have assisting/marketing/promoting local events as part of their job description.
I know that a lot of residents in this town believe that is the job of the Chamber of Commerce, but, since they receive absolutely no funding to do so, they are actually a business group there to be the voice of business, and to try to help their members grow and prosper. It is however in the EDTC mandate, to help, and they are funded by the town to do so.

That's a good idea but it seems to me a lot is being done in the tourism sector.

The racetrack is a tourist destination. There's 300 Nordic jobs and probably about the same working for OLG. The OLG payroll is $13 million. The Nordic payroll is probably $8 million. Who really knows how many backside jobs there are but there's got to be one person for every three horses at least. And what do those horse eat, hay, and for farmers that could be the difference between having agrictural land with wide open spaces everyone seems to enjoy, or sprawling residential development. Not to mention the horse farms.

The Town earns over a million a year in revenue from the slots, and if the HBPA has its way, no track, no slots. And it also gets $250,000 in tax from the land.

The speedway would be a tourist destination too.

The job of marketing the individual tourist venues should be up to them.

I know who comprises the new board as I was there when they were installed. If you are so interested, why not join the FOCB? Costs $6.00 per year. Great organization. I did have some legitimate issues with certain policies and procedures, however, they have been resolved. As to the announcement of the new board, I'll leave that to the FOCB.

At least they're using their own money not like the Bridgeburg BIA using bingo money and tax dollars for their political action.

Enlighten me> Inquiring minds want to know.

It wasn't the "Bridgeburg BIA",it was who was running it.Even now they're still pissed that they were kicked off.Luckily Richard Nabi advised them well!

Just put a question on her blog asking what happened to the little group her and papadickass were putting together.. doubt she will print it .. Went all over her site and no mention of it anymore .. no one joined? .. ran out of money ? .. or did papadickass use all the funds for the card "get out of jail".??? I hope she answers my question... Can anyone answer my question?

As to the BIA there needs to be further housecleaning. Some have been in charge just a little too long.

She did not print my question or my request for information on her new venture with papadickass. Guess she does not have an answer for that !..Does anyone on this blog know what happened to their little group?.

I have to disagree with the statement of "marketing the individual tourist venues" statement. There is a need to market the town as a whole with several different packages. One is the "Stay and Play" package, another could be a taste of package with the different restaurants, another could be a heritage package...etc

The little venues need the help, they don't have the money to approach the bus associations and traditionally the chambers or tourism departments help with that.

Hmmm I getting more and more confused every day with Madam Dung and her beetles. Do they want the EDTC involved in real estate or do they not want the EDTC involved in real estate. Can someone please explain it to us.

Fine Sharon .... you stated "From now on, this blog will be openly working to unseat the present council and mayor."

You have set your agenda for this blog.

Further, you stated " Here's to the person(s) who are complaining because I'm rejecting their posts:
Now that the election is less than a year away, the tone of this blog will become even more edgy and I will not be printing your self-serving BS posts."

I AM NOT POSTING SELF SERVING POSTS !!!!!!

You make a statement, allegation, accusation, and I ask you to substantiate it.

YOU posted: " ...as we have elected officials who owe so much to the developers who donated to their campaigns"

I posted asking you to identify the business' that had donated and benifitted from the mayor.

YOU REJECTED THAT POST !!!!!

WHY?

Should you refuse to accept this post it WILL be posted on the other blog.

FURTHER, I intend to start up my own blog that allows the citizens of this community to post their opinions, pro or con, in a civil manner and receive civil treatment from the Editor.

http://forteriemightymouth.blogspot.com/

Your blog is totally BIAS and represents everything that you complain about.

Without prejudice ....
