Invoking Nazis . . . AGAIN

UnaBlogger is really rabid today saying the mayor's quotations are inspired by Nazi propaganda principles.

Just like Joseph Goebbels said, “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."

Something like "They're giving away the beach!"

Sharon Bowers easily by far is the high priestess of lying in this town. Or is it laying? Sharon Bowers is the biggest layer in town. The biggest and thickest layer of the most septic bile in town.

Here's a (sic) for you, straight from today's post: "How can a twelve condo (sic) tower keep the "cottage-type atmosphere" intact?"

Someone should write a book.

Quote from Ray Spiteri’s Review article (February 3, 2010)

“The town purchased the 4.6-acre site in 2001. The concept at the time was to buy the entire property to bring control of the sandy beach into public hands, then at a later date sell some of the other portions of the property to recoup some of the town's investment.”

Quote from Mayor Wayne Redekop (June 22, 2005)

“The Bay Beach property had been acquired originally with the intention of selling all but the beach, with a view to using the money to purchase further waterfront properties to increase the access to our beaches, something that I believe is part of the birth-right of everyone born in this area. A further objective was to drive the rejuvenation of Crystal Beach. That former objective seems to have been lost over the past few years, although the latter seems to be taking place, in part because of the acquisition of Bay Beach, but also because of the other significant investments the Town has made in infrastructure and the substantial efforts of local residents, such as you. I look forward to what is undoubtedly a bright and prosperous future for Crystal Beach. Thank you for choosing to be a part of it.”

Good, you have two mayors who said the same thing about what the intentions were when the town bought the beach. In between them, you had a guy run for mayor who was opposed to selling off the other land, and he lost. What part about Canadian democracy do you not understand?

I love the comment from the previous thread- it is bang on. I too believe that the few who already own their little piece of Canadian waterfront in Crystal Beach are really worried about the 200 more people who will move into as a result of the project and put pressure on the Town to more aggressively pursue more beach lands.

I think Bowers little blog has been spewing propaganda bought and paid for by some very wealthy summer residents. The elitist views by Bowers is quite transparent. How else could she afford laptops and other electronic devices on her meager earnings.Wake up people,Bowers is not standing up for you,she is in the pockets of the waterfront protectionists.

I feel bad for the original idea of the FOCB. As a group that creates and promotes great events and the village of crystal beach as a great place to live and visit, it was a great one. Unfortunately, the high brow summer residents with a sence of entitlement have twisted and perverted this group to be a hate mongering machine. Anyone with half a brain can see that the town is following, to the letter, it's original intentions for the Bay beach property. After sitting down with the mayor and asking a few questions of the history of the beach, I am more in favor than before. Can you imagine the music festivals that we can have right on the beach instead of at the waterfront park. It is not that the Waterfront park isn't beautiful, it is just not as accessible to the masses as Bay Beach is. My son who is not able to attend the beach in his wheelchair will finally be able to join the whole family and enjoy what the beach has to offer. I would like to think that the people of Fort Erie are smarter than what is being represented by FOCB. You can bet that as soon as this facility is built, and it will be built, they will be the first trying to book it up for their events and projects. Come on people, just beacuse you made a statement that "It doesn't matter what you put there, we will not support it" does not mean that you cannot change your mind. You will not lose face, in fact you may gain my respect back for not being so childish. If we want the ammenities, we have to have the tower, the town does not have the money to build it so they can come... so there has to be a compromise. I think that everyone will be pleasently surprised. Have a great Day!

Great topic! I wonder who paid for that sign on Garrison Rd.It costs about $1000.00 a month. Not exactly pocket change for the FOCB! I think there is more here than meets the eye! People apposed to expanding beach lands with the help of some development.I can't see why anyone would be against that.Unless you are against public rights and freedoms.Great work Crystal Beach Strand,Thank you for your support!(for anyone that thinks this is misleading,i bet you signed that petition or/and have a yellow sign on your front lawns.)

I know its true. The wealthy country club types that have occupied our waterfront for over 100 years will use and abuse us if we let them.We can cut their lawns, trim their bushes, clean their homes and cook for them. They treat us very well, but when have we been able to eat at their dinner tables? If your really desperate they will really take advantage.Look at yourselves, would you rather sell yourselves out in Bay Beach with your wealthy so called friends, or would you rather take your waterfront back, one property at a time.I know where Sharon Bowers'cold heart is.She would rather sell us out with her lies and eat good tonight, thanks to her elitest qualities. What she doesn't realize is that they will toss her aside when they're done with her. It's just the way it is!See you at the OMB,"yanks",it's going to get very interesting when peoples true colours start showing!

If this was truly going to be negative toward waterfront access, wouldn't that Shorewalker group be coming out against it??? They have been very vocal in the past. They probably realize what some of us do in that if this goes thru, others might sell out and have to transfer the beach to the town. They would get raked over the coals if they endorsed this plan, but by saying nothing and allowing it to go thru is very smart on their part.

Can someone explain how Bob Steckley votes AND speaks to an issue that will impact him financially. ie. whether or not it is going to COST HIM MONEY to fly back OR he'll LOSE A DEPOSIT he already put down. And not a word out of the Editor. Interesting. I guess like all issues she speaks to, it's only a conflict or improper if anyone OTHER than Noyes and Steckley commit the offence! I'll wait for the Editor's "team of legal experts" to respond how this is not A CONFLICT OF INTEREST!

Anonymous said...

That and the mouth piece for shorewalkers, Stephen Passero, is running for election. Heavens for bid you come out with a position during an election year! What will the voters think??!!

Anonymous said...

Oh the drama!Noyes and Steckley selling us out.Imagine if this proposal doesn't go through, another one hundred years of occupation!can't wait for more fireworks on the fourth of July!I wonder if these two bumpkins are invited?Kind of reminds me of the bertie boat club directors giving our land to Bob Rich Jr. after Bragg left it to us and forbid us to let it go,especially to Rich.

Stephen Passero said...

Now I have to keep track of multiple blogs to see when and where I'm getting slammed? lol Where will I find the time?

I don't make comments for or against something because it's an election year - I comment when appropriate to do so, and when I feel I can add to the discussion.

Seeing as a lot of people have asked me to speak on this issue - people who are in favour have asked me to speak, and people who are against have asked me to speak.

I'll be speaking on March 1st.

Are you happy now?

Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it.

Canuck said...

I assure you that there is no intention here to slam you, but it looks as if someone has taken the opportunity to bait you. There might be some unintended crossfire going on. Just steer clear of Sharon Bowers and I'll be more careful with approving comments.

Canuk,

Why would you insult the Nazi's by including Sharon in their midst?

Let's call a spade a spade, She is American. That in itself should be considered an insult.

When I think of the current Haiti situation, I get so upset. The World has come to their aid.

Canada has been providing aid to this country for 20 years now.

Okay, I know that the U.S. has been providing support, but there are also 10 Americans in jail there for attempting to kidnap children. The courts will decide their real intent.

A country is devistated, and some Americans think it is within their rights to prosper from it. The American way.

Canuck said...

I don't have anything against Americans. They helped us out in WWII, and without America as our neighbour, Canada would not be the greatest place in the world. I don't mind at all that Canada is entwined economically with the U.S. And I don't mind that we are allies, even if Canada is somewhat of a junior player, in global security. Americans by and large are decent, hard-working people and I like them, generally. I don't mind that they own, by measurement of property assessment, the majority of land and houses in Bertie Bay and Abino Bay. I don't like it when they try to tell us how to live and how to govern ourselves as if the mere fact of paying property taxes is the price of admission to citizenship.

Americans are alright in my books. It's Sharon Bowers, the lolligagging lizard with an ego to match the size of her ass, that I thoroughly detest and who is such a loathsome creature who spawns hatred and fear and misery where ever she goes. The fact of her American citizenship is one minor issue, and only relevant because she thinks she has an obligation to determine our political future.

Before this degenerates into a Sharon Bowers-inspired pissing match pitting Americans against Canadians about Bay Beach, I want to bring your attention to a blog I started.

Bay Beach Blog can be found at http://baybeachblog.blogspot.com/.

Please continue your pissing match with Sharon, and try to keep collateral damage to a minimum.

You'll only have five minutes on March 1, so don't write a big speech, and when Noyes decides to pipe in, tell her to shut the hell up, like I want to every time I see her on TV.

I know that I have never asked a politician or a would be politican
to get up and speak on issues for me, if I have something to say I will go and say it in person.
We have already heard from Tom Lewis,Richard Berry ,and John Papadakis on this development but
not one of these three really spoke on the development ,they just rehashed old political differences of opinion and did not
have a whole to say , and thats probably why they were not elected last time out.I know that my opinion does not hinge on what Mr Passero has to say , whether he's for it or against it so it really
does not matter to me whether he speaks at council or not.

Anonymous said...

Get over yourself mr. passero. Nobody really cares what your opinion is! But the shorewalkers certainly should have one as this issue effects their mandate. And if you don't like getting slammed, don't get into politics!

Canuck said...

I don't think it's necessary to call people a mouthpiece, or to tell them that being abused is their own fault.

Anonymous said...

I think that you have to go on the Shorewalk's website to see their mandate which is public access to the the waterfront. So far the development is allowing access to the shore for people.

There are two issues at hand, one is the reduction of parking spaces and the other is the height of the building along with its style. Currently the design doesn't jive with what is already there. You have Cape Cod type houses, a German Village design, with a mixture of old cottages and new housing. What should have happened first is the funding or incentives to fix up some of the run-down areas. Then the development may become reality.

This will end up on the OMB's laps.

Anonymous said...

It would seem to me that it is the property owner's responsibility to get their own funding to fix up their properties, and the incentive should simply be their own pride.

Sure, some property owners have fixed up their properties, but there are a lot more that are dumps.

The new development will at least show some initiative in Crystal Beach.

Check out the neurotic/phychotic bloggers at the strand. Now they think that their "Timmy's" is expanding!Maybe adding afew more storeys, maybe a 26 hour drivethrough?I bet I could sell these clowns some swamp land in Florida. It's called a RENO!Maybe replacing the seats that all of you wore out on your way to work?Or watever you do with yourselves down there.Try that RENO idea on your cardboard boxes you live in,beachers!

I heard that they are putting in a second drive-thru so the cars don,t line up on the road and her royal fatass can get through on Ridgeway Road easier. HA HA HA HA

Anonymous said...

It's just STUPID. They snoop around, and complain about anything and everything.

The Editor says that she has problems with only ONE development.

A couple of months back she got off her toilet and bitched about a nother development, even called the architect.

Before that she whined and cried about the golf course property.

She only lives to bitch .... she has nothing else. No kids, no family, nothing ...... oh yeah .... she's got Helen, and her computor.

Regarding the house flipping (unposted comment) -- I've heard that too, but you need proof.

Anonymous said...

what proof is needed? He has stated in his remarks to council that he has been buying and renovating houses and re-selling them. It only stands to reason he'd prefer to keep the property values cheap so he can make more money doing so.

That's how it works on all those Flip this House type shows.

And besides, what self respecting business man wouldn't want more people coming to his business?

Seriously, does he have the IQ of a Cheerio?

Anonymous said...

What about "house flipping",you got me curious.Tell us more.

Canuck said...

Regarding house flipping:

Someone has alleged that the reason that an unnamed person (to this point) is opposed to the Bay Beach deal is because this unnamed person would prefer to buy, fix then sell a small number of cottages every year over the long term instead of having them all fixed up in a short period thereby drying up the market.

Do I understand this?

Anonymous said...

Thank you for that clarification.I suggest that everyone should have the right to buy,fix up and sell homes for profit. Its called free enterprise. You can be a handyman, investor or perhaps even a "real estate agent".In the end, everyone wins, the neighbourhood improves and property values improve.Unfortunately some people would rather keep it a secret. We know it won't be a secret anymore after the Molinaros are in Town!

Anonymous said...

That is exactly why this little secret shouldn't get out.Opposing this development keeps opportunity open for not so community minded people.I say build the F<#%&er! And get on with life! Anyone one care for some wings tonight?P.S. call another realltor!I see another steal on Oakwood!

Anonymous said...

Just on Oakwood? Check MLS.ca,the whole town of Crystal Beach is a bargain!Quick brag some for yourself before some realltor snags it! Oh,but he is only looking for the best interests of the "cottage atmosphere",ya right.Ka ching,Ka ching!
